I find no love in any of it. There is only so-called love to be had for those who follow the correct path -whatever that might be.

They are all WARRIORS for christ, or allah, or whoever. We are the enemy. We embody what they perceive as a palpable danger to their ascendancy into paradise. We, the infidel cannot be tolerated. Their "all forgiving" god seeks ultimate vengance on all who do not prostrate themselves before him in abject humility.

I find it more and more difficult to be deferential toward christians in the effort to avoid offending their delicate sensibilities, while they stand up and tell me to my face that I am going to hell.

From their perspective what is there that one could say to someone which could be more offensive? It sure beats the hell out of saying that your grandma wears army boots.

I also agree with you regarding the "war on drugs." It is hopeless, hapless, and wholly mis-guided. It is a manifestation of our puritan ethic.

I have referred to this a few times at my place. H.L. Mencken defined "puritanism" as "the fear that someone else may be having a good time."

It forces the powers that be to blindly strike out at any and all so-called vice. I am not a drug user, nor one who would condone the use of most illicit drugs primarily on the grounds that many of them are, in fact, harmful to one's health and well being owing to their debilitating effects and the likely development of dependencies. (I don't believe there is much of a case for any of that as regards the use of marijuana.)

But criminalizing any and all who partake of such drugs has, as you say, brought our courts and prisons to the point of overflowing with many people whose only "crime" was getting high.

This is almost as stupid as those who have declared "war" on non-believers.

TLSTerry Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09854019175361194687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20896717.post-1162210662884853232006-10-30T07:17:00.000-05:002006-10-30T07:17:00.000-05:00Believer (God) vs. Unbeliever (Satan)It is literal...Believer (God) vs. Unbeliever (Satan)

It is literally black & white for certain believers. You are either with us or against us.

You cease being you. Same thing in war. The enemy is dehumanized.

It's amazing how the human mind can dissociate from reality but it will if it thinks it's a matter of life or death. Be killed or kill.

If you are not God's then you are Satan's. If you are Satan's then it's open season.Zoehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04114216106572393906noreply@blogger.com
